August 2014: What is a Medical Gym

Not sure what a Medical Gym is? You may have asked yourself, “How is the Medical Gym different than any other gym?” Here are just a few things that set us apart from the typical GloboGym atmosphere…

Personal & Friendly

Remember cheers where everyone knows your name? This is the atmosphere we strive to create here at the Medical Gym. We like to get to know each of our members on a personal basis to create a friendly atmosphere.

All of our staff is CPR/AED certified. There is always qualified personnel here supervising the gym (go check out our staff bios and see our backgrounds!), and the majority of the time the staff on duty are healthcare professionals (ATC, PT, PTA, etc.).

We offer a few different avenues for our clients to obtain an exercise plan that is made just for them and catered toward their individual needs, as well as to update that plan as needs change. This includes a seamless transition from PT patient to gym member. Your first visit will include bio-mechanical assessment and health screen to assure optimal exercise plan and prevent injury. For example, if you have tight hip flexors that limit your spine movement, you will learn stretches to target that area, and strengthening of the muscle will be avoided until safe muscle length is achieved.

Unique Group Fitness Opportunities

The Medical Gym offers group fitness classes to populations who may not normally have access to classes that meet their needs. We offer an aerobics/strength training class geared to the older adult 3x/week, a falls prevention class to improve balance 2x/week, and a beginner Pilates mat class 3-4x/week.

These are just a few of the things that we feel set us apart from your standard gym. Want to know more? Feel free to give us a call or stop by! We would love to tell you more about what we do and why this may be the right place for you to start or continue your fitness journey.
